REFLECTIONS

A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE

Let's have a think about that...

Calm is not a Dirty Word

The era of the 'Expert' has had it's benefits and it's, well lets say 'questionables'.  initially I thought it was a good idea to go to as many trainings as possible, and in the interest of education this is a good idea.  .

You've likely also observed that populations seem to go through phases of ideas and place importance on particular learnings at different times.

Yet it also takes wisdom to know how to filter through what you learn and how to use what you now know within your own life and projects.  Rather than falling into 'group think'.

I have noticed with the 'group think' tendency, that what can happen, is, when we point enough in one direction, people will look there and miss something else that may be of benefit to them.

This can also result in putting a quality, information or some other suggestions aside as now unnecessary.

In this context - I then ask - what happened to'calm' ?

In the last year i have mentioned this word within the business community and the response was 'not to go there'.

That this isn't something people want to hear about.  That it has no impact within managers interests, that it would fall on deaf ears.

In a marketing context I get that, yet I suggest executives are in their positions because they can see to the heart of problem, a need, a lack of.

Show me a person who would prefer to do business with an authentic, trustworthy character who is approachable and calm, vs a hot head.

Are you going to be the one who gets the calm ball rolling ?

The going nowhere fast scenario is when we are high at taking focussed action - a get up and go person - yet, low in that action being taken on fresh thinking.

Highly focussed action without consideration of whether it is from memory or from fresh thinking can mean that you are working really hard to get somewhere you have already been before.  So you land up ‘going nowhere, fast’.

It's like expecting a computer to put out new data from an old hard drive that hasn't had any fresh input.

Once one understands how to recognise and elicit fresh thinking (insight) your actions will be far better rewarded.

This is clarity in motion.  And every step has a clear sense of purpose, direction and confidence.

So relevant in a world where many are looking for uniqueness, peace of mind, productivity.

So next time you notice you are 'going nowhere fast' - change direction, try Insightful Action - and go somewhere special instead.

Here's to new possibilities.
